Hand Battery
Hand Battery : Harnessing electricity
Well !! You ππ are also a battery !! A human powered one !! πππLets check this out.
Item list
- 2 x cardboard covers
- Copper plate
- Aluminium foil
- 2 x jumper wires
- A few paper clips
- Multimeter
Procedure.
- Mount the copper plate on one of the cardboard covers and cover other cardboard cover with Aluminium foil.
- Connect the two above prepared plates to the multimeter test probes using the jumper wires.
- Set the multimeter to the 200 milliampere setting.
- Place one hand on each plate and observe the readings. If negative current is shown in the.meter, then simply reverse the connections of the multimeter probes.
- You can even wet your hands with water (or sanitizer works the best) to make your hands more conducting and increase the multimeter reading!!!
Principle.
- Sweat on your hands acts as an electrolyte.
- Copper gives up negative electrons when touched and becomes positively charged.
- When the aluminium plate is touched it takes negative electrons and becomes negatively charged.
- The difference creates flow of electrical charges or current.
- Electrons flow from plate π meter π copper plate πbody π forming a hand battery!!!
